i took some magic mushrooms, but 30 minutes prior i took my normal meds, percocet, methadone, neurontin, so i want to make sure the nausua is not because i set off a horrible chemical reaction.

I don't know exactly, because I don't know the chemicals your "normal" meds contain. But sometimes when I take mushrooms I get the nausous feeling, so I wouldn't be too worried. There aren't a lot of chemicals in magic mushrooms, it's mushrooms which were grown in cow patties so it's just the "natural" occuring chemicals on the fungus that gives you the effects. Your normal meds seem like painkillers, so if you usually take them all together then take the mushrooms, you will probably just feel a little sick at first but once everything kicks in you will probably feel pretty decent. Try not to think about the sickness otherwise it will get worse, unless you think you really aren't okay then maybe call someone for help.
From all the education I have on drugs, and experience, I don't think you're in too much trouble. Maybe just paranoid. Just wait a bit, if it gets worse then call for help.

Actually methadone is NOT an opiate and will not show up in a opiate test. so he cant cheat,if he test positive for opiates he has cheated

If you are asking how long you would test positive on a drug test if tested for percoset, then the answer is between 2 and 4 days. For methadone the answer is at least a week. Both answers are irregardless of how long your pain relief from either medicine will last. Be very careful taking escalating doses of methadone as this can be fatal even 48 hours after your last medicine ingestion due to suppressed breathing, especially if the drug is mixed with alcohol or tranquilizers.

Someone told me that since I am on Methadone for chronic back pain, that it blocks any affects that I would get as far as pain relief from Vicodin or Percocet, is this true? So, if I take Methadone there is no sense in my Doctor giving me Vicodin or Percocet for breakthrough pain, is that true?

Yes, combining those meds are commonly done.

Would these type of painkillers get rid of the pain when one is on a methadone maintance program. Say I needed a surgery; methadone is not good for pain at all, so would a painkillers such as oxycodone work for pain? I know the methadone will prevent one from obtaining a high due to cross tolerance. But for pain...??

There are a couple of misconceptions in your questions -- which could be dangerous. Methadone is a synthetic opiate. It has many of the same side effects as "natural" opiates such as heroin and codeine, and it is risky to combine it with any other opiates because of the combined cumulative dosage. Death by overdosing on methadone, by itself and mixed with other drugs, has become quite common with street drug users, part of which may be due to the misperception that methadone acts "against" opiate drugs.

Actually, it doesn't. Methadone supposedly makes it easier to get off heroin and other opiate additions, because it has a longer half-life in the body, does not give as intense a "high", and does not have such severe withdrawal symptoms. BUT it is also very possible to get physically addicted to methadone itself, which will have its own withdrawal problems.

As for pain, all opiate drugs including methadone DO relieve pain. Why do you think it's not a pain reliever? Methadone actually is fairly frequently prescribed by doctors (although maybe it shouldn't be) for non-heroin users who have severe, chronic pain. (Remember Anna Nicole Smith's son Danny? The cause of death was accidental multi-drug interactions, and one of those drugs was methadone which had been prescribed to him for back pain.)

Please don't self-dose with ANY other opiates while on a methadone program. You need to consult with your medical doctor prior to any surgery, not just because of the danger of multi-opiate interactions, but because other drugs that are administered for surgery could also interact badly. For example, high doses of opiates will slow heart rate and breathing. Many anaesthetics also have this effect. If the two are combined together, you could have respiratory or heart failure on the operating table. Be safe rather than sorry!
