My boyfriend started taking Methadone 2 weeks ago and turned him into a very violent and crazy person. he is trying to stop taking this but, he hasn't been able to eat in 4 days. Does anyone have any advise as to what to do to help him? Is there anything he can take to ease the withdrawls that he is going through?

HiFirst of all congrats for trying to get off,I know how hard it is.I go to a methadone clinic and tapered before only 10 mill a week but the doctors say thats too fast.I guess it depends what dose your on your not supposed to decrease more than 10% of your dose at a time.30 days isnt very long to give yourself to get off.My boyfriend went down 5 mil at a time from 120 mil and he was fine untill he got down to 5 mil. then he was real sick.You should probably go a little slower like even 1 mill. a day.Good luck hope everything works out for you!!
How long does it take after your last dose of methsdone to feel opiates again? F**k it's been 4 days, and I feel like I'm dying. I've been taking tabs hoping they would at least help with the withdraw. Does anyone know how long this bulls**t drug tortures you?????? HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You'll be okay - I promise you that. Just be patient and do everything you can to stick this out. Detoxing from opiates is no joke and I know more than anyone how excruciating it is to go though. For me, when I detoxed from heroin, I went cold turkey and my withdrawal symptoms lasted for about 3 1/2 weeks before I was able to get up out of bed and attempt life again. It was hell, but I did it, so I know you can, too. Methadone withdrawal is horrible, I know......I tried to get clean with methadone & failed every time. The first few days will be the worst but each day after that, your symptoms will slowly dissipate. Personally, I did not wish to use methadone or suboxne through my last attempt to get clean because deep down, I realized I was simply replacing the heroin with a back-up drug. To me, I wasn't clean if I was still putting something into my system. Plus, I knew that methadone withdrawal is sometimes even worse than heroin withdrawal. During this time of detox, call your supports (email me & I'll give you my number if you wish), try to get to some NA meetings. Take advantage of all the support that offerred to you - encouragement is necessary. I commend you for wanting to be clean. It's an extremely rough road, but if I can do it, you can do it. Be stronger than the drug & you'll be a new person.
I am a 26 year old female, and have been on a Methadone clinic for over a year. I was always on a low dose, as I never did heroin. Vicodin and percocets were my addiction. I am now up to 82 mg's. I want to get off of this medicine, and am looking for people's experiences with their coming off of it. Thanks.
I am also on Methadone for pain killers (Not Heroin), I suggest you speak with your counselor at your clinic and go down 1 mg every week. Anything faster than that will end up hurting you. And I can promise you that you will be right back on the Methadone. I know 82 weeks sounds like a lifetime. But if you want to withdrawl comfortably, This is your only option right now. the cllinics charge a lot and keep your money and keep you addicted, they are just drug dealers to me sorry all of you that are on methadone.
Ask God to deliver them. I agree with you, the clinics just get you off of one thing & get you addicted to something else.
