Methadone Drug Addiction .com

My father had been perscribed methadone for the past 15 yrs. He died two weeks ago his autopsy showed a high dose of methadone and cirrosis. Is it normal for methadone to be perscribed is high doses for such a long period of time he was using it to rehabilite from drug use

Yes... it's completely normal to use high doses for heroin abuse. The cirrosis probably was a chronic condition and has very little to do with the methadone usage, but it would strain your liver over a period of time. My question to you is if your father was on such a "high dose", why didn't his doctor do routine bloodwork to make sure it wasn't above the theraputic level for his system? That's what i'd be asking, not what was in the autopsy.

Sebutex has opioids rather than actual opiates in it like methadone does. You can't get off on sebutex, however, you can get high on methadone. Sebutex turns itself off if you take too much. So why don't they just use that?

The truth is that one is also getting high from subutex. both hit receptor sites for the same thing, and every opiate junkie knows that, though one may not get the high they want, it will do until you can find your favorite dope. It doesn't turn off; the addict hits a plateau. That means that one can only get "so high" which is always dissatisfying to the addict and leads to bigger and better things. There is only one thing that actually works for opiate/opioid dependence. That is; abstinence. everything else is a lie.

i've been on methadone for years and about a year ago i tried crystal meth. i began to notice that when i used crystal, i didnt need as much methadone. why is that? i also wanted to know why after prolonged use of both, i began to loose my strength,muscle.why?

Methadone is to replace heroin, an opiate. Crystal meth is speed, an amphetamine. Mixing these two drugs can have devastating effects on your body and the way your brain works
(both body and brain will cease to work if you keep doing this)

Be honest. And ask them to be honest with you if things do work out. Employers what a good days work, and employees that get along with everyone. They want someone who works hard and works together. If you're doing that then there is no issue. Keep going to your therapy and work out the issues in your life. People usually don't have a drug or alcohol problem, they have a pain problem. Make sure you're dealing with the pain in your life. If things don't work out and you need to part ways, do it graciously and go get another job. There are millions of jobs out there and opportunity unfolds in the strangest places for those who are prepared. Good Luck.

blood instools , i have been on methadone for 7 years and totally have chronic constapation there is sometimes a few spots of blood on the toilet paper as i squeeze very hard as i never get a natural need to go to the toilet i had a colonascopy just over two years ago and everything was clear please help me?

Methadone use does not cause blood in the stool but it can cause constipation which can. All opiates have the potential for causing constipation and it is reccomended that you try all natural mehods first such as eating foods high in fiber (whole grains, nuts, dried fruits, oranges, apple with skin, avocado, kiwi, mango and pears,green leafy veggies, peas, beans, etc.) in addition to products like Metamucil (a powder you mix in a drink like water or juice) and lastly you can try a soft stool softener. If none of these work then consult your doctor who may prescribe you something more potent.
