I would like to know what is the method used for methadone therapy. Also, which hospital/clinic offers the best methadone therapy?
as a member of[JACLF] junkies against crime liberation front.i can tell you plenty about methadone having helped get many people free of this insidiously alleged cure for heroin addiction.this is a classic case of governments giving god like power to a bunch of know it all social engineers who replace a week of heroin withdrawal with a drug that has a 11 week withdrawal period of course the middle classes of society endorse this as 40 percent of this society owes the continual suffering and misery of junkies for there jobs those of us involved in the illegal drug industry refer to the done as golden handcuffs.whilst you can get on the done at any hospital .if you want off from heroin i will work out a program with you to have you cured in a week with minimum discomfort.pH 9858-5409 regards motorcycle messiah.

I have had an opiate addiction for many years now. I finally decided to try methadone maintenence therapy to get off of it. I have since been on it for over 2 years now. However, the whole time I have been on the methadone I have had severe breathing problems that were not there before. It has been pure torture for me. Has anyone had the same or similar experience with methadone? I am an asthmatic by the way. I understand that people with breathing difficulties should NOT go on methadone therapy because methadone does suppress the breathing. ????
I think the two things your are experiencing are completely seperate.. opiate overdoses can cause respiratory supression but it would not cauise breathing problems. You may be exeriencing a worstening of your asmtha... completely different process happening
how about methadone clients who switch to suboxone???
I've been taking Suboxone for the last 2 years and finally feel that I am strong enough to go down milligram by milligram... I'm down to 1 and next month it'll be half and then I should be done. Getting of heroin is extremely hard... it's one of the hardest things I've ever had to do... I've never been on the methadone program, but I have a few friends that are... The higher they up their dose (usually to get high) the longer it'll take to come off of it... and with methadone weening yourself off is a long and slow process. A friend of mine who was on the program was recently incarcerated all while he was on high doses of methadone. Obviously they don't give you your daily methadone in jail so he had to detox from it and he said it was almost as excruciating as heroin withdrawals...
To answer your question, I think it is possible for anyone to pull themselves out of addiction. Suboxone is a better choice (even better than Subutex) because it contains Naloxone. Naloxone is a pure opiate antagonist which is normally given to someone who has just overdosed from opiates. It blocks the opiate receptors in the brain so you can't get high... and trust me... in the beggining of my treatment I did try... The Naloxone in the Suboxone also prevents the user from crushing, diluting, and then shooting it up... I've been happy with it and it's worked well for me.
In the end, recovering from heroin addiction should be taken step by step and relapse happens a lot... I guess you just really have to want to be sober to actually get sober...
i was just wondering if anyone would like to share there experience, with it. good or bad. amount of dose, side effects, time using it ETC. thanks!
Yes, it does the job, the cravings are gone and my life is normal again.
Before you can go on Buprenorphine, you must go down to 30 mgms. of methadone first. If you were to go on Buprenorphine, you would no longer have a "drug" in your blood or urine because it doesn't show up. They claim that it does the same thing as Methadone as far as you won't get "sick" on it. I also hear that it's less harmful to your body e.g. your teeth won't decay. But I'm not sure if your eyes' pupils will still be dilated or not? Because methadone does cause the pupils to dilate (contract) which may cause some people to think that you're high on some kind of street drug instead. I know someone who wishes they were on 30 mgms. of Methadone so that they could switch to Buprenorphine today! (They're taking 130 mgms.)

Texas Physical Therapy Specialists Help Patients Avoid Pain and ...
According to the Mayo Clinic in 2010, “arthroscopy is a procedure for diagnosing and treating joint problems. Arthroscopy allows the surgeon to see inside the joint without having to make a large incision. Surgeons can even repair some types of joint damage during arthroscopy, with surgical instruments inserted through additional small incisions.”
An effective alternative to knee arthroscopy is physical therapy at Texas Physical Therapy Specialists (TexPTS). Physical therapists at TexPTS perform a thorough examination and develop an individualized plan of care that may include exercises designed to help improve motion, such as water walking, swimming, and flexibility exercises. Physical therapy treatment may also include an exercise sequence to restore strength that allows a gradual return to normal activities using exercises that simulate patient’s typical knee stresses.
"This study offers hope and encouragement to persons with osteoarthritis who would like to avoid the pain and emotional toll of surgery," explained Dr. Robert Wainner, a physical therapy professor at Texas State University, leading musculoskeletal researcher, and therapist/owner at Texas Physical Therapy Specialists (TexPTS) in January 2011. "Too often, the first line of defense is surgery when it need not always be. Physical therapy can be equally effective and should be considered by not only patients themselves, but also the primary care doctors and orthopedists who are treating them."
