i've been on methadone for years and about a year ago i tried crystal meth. i began to notice that when i used crystal, i didnt need as much methadone. why is that? i also wanted to know why after prolonged use of both, i began to loose my strength,muscle.why?

I suffer from very severe chronic knee pain.I am prescribed to take three 100 milligram time released morphine tablets per day.I want to see if the fentanyl transdermal system patch will work better.I am wondering what the equivalency would be to my 3 100 mophine tablets.I am also wondering what the same strength would be in methadone?I'm not sure which would help better.I am sick of sufferering.My knee is ruined for life.They can not give me a knee replacement.

God bless you. I can't answer your question, but please be careful with fentanyl. My mom was rushed to the ER, comatose, because of fentanyl. Luckily she's ok, but there have been many deaths due to that stuff. Take care. :(

My sister takes the 40 mg of Methadone for Pain management but she heard today that they will no longer allow the 40 mg tablets to be given as Pain management (due to DEA rules). Does anyone know if the means that Methadone will no longer be used as Pain management or can she still get it but in a different strength tablets? Who should she contact about this? Her doctor or pharmacist? Thanks!!

She should still be able to get methadone from her doctor, he/she may just simply need to change the tablet strength. but before she gets stressed out take the time to go the manufacturer's website for the pills and see if it is actually being changed. they should have it posted on the site. also she can look at the fda or dea's website to verify the information. her pharmacist can verify that a change has been made but to change the prescription in anyway she needs to speak with her doc

I was on methadone for about 8 months, starting at 100 mgs and I took my last dose of 30 mgs yesterday morning. I already feel like total crap n I know it's only gonna get worse. I don't tolerate pain very well and my mental strength is not too great either. So not taking methadone again or having anything to alleviate the pain, cold sweats, stomach cramps, leg cramps, ect. is almost impossible... This is soo much worse than any heroin withdrawal I have ever been through. I still have have methadone on me but I don't want to take them for a whole lot of reasons. Anyway, I'm just wondering if I go to the hospital for methadone withdrawal is there anything they will give me to make it a little easier?

Why would you stop at 30mgs?? You need to go down from 30, take away 5mgs every week until you get to 5 and then stop. this makes it easier. Methadone withdrawal is worse than heroin and lasts a lot longer too. The hospital will not do anything because really you are in no danger, you can't die or anything it just feels like you're going to. Sorry u have to go thru this I know what it's like... just stick it out it will be worth it!
