Methadone Drug Addiction .com

I quit 120mg methadone cold turkey 4 days ago..
My Doc gave me klonopin, clonidine, and robaxin for the w/d's.. but of course.. i still aint feelin too good.
I was on about 80-120mg of Oxycontin a day for about 1 1/2 - 2 years.. and i was only in the methadone treatment for about 3months. i was just wondering if anyone knew about how long ill be sick for. The way i look at it, i wasnt using for a LONG time so i didnt know if that would make my w/d's go away any quicker.. ive seen some people say about a week coming off cold turkey and some say about a month or two.. any help would make me feel soo much better.

My private doctor who prescribes this to me is out of the country for 4 weeks and so cannot replace it! I take 80 mg a day and am now panicking as the chemist is not even admitting to having the prescription in the first place (but I know they have).
Does anyone know if my GP will or can prescribe me this until my private DR is back.
I am a carer for my disabled Mum and cannot afford to be ill (I will suffer severe withdrawals without my methadone). Also do not feel mentally prepared for a sudden detox, the whole thing is making me sick with worry and nerves. Already I am craving Heroin now which I have not used for along time. Please no judgements..........
If it was just a few days that I would be ill for, it wouldn't be so much a big a deal but were talking weeks and more likely months. My Dr is back in 4 wks but in the meantime the withdrawals will be very severe off this amount.
I rang and spoke to my private Drs secretary and she says there's nothing that can be done, he hasn't got a partner and left no one else in charge. She said my only hope was my GP. I rang GP today but he had just left (closed in aft today) and explained situation to the Practice manager but she said she wasn't hopefull that he would do it but she would speak with him tomorrow.
Yeah they have methadone clinics in the area but the waiting lists are for months.

Is your GP aware of your problem and need for Methodone? If so, he may be able to prescribe it. Go and see your GP and explain the situation.

My fiance is addicted to pain pills. We have talked about getting her some help from a methadone clinic. I have researched methadone, and from what I am seeing, some people use methadone for pain relief, and some people have even gotten addicted to it. How is this helping a person who is trying to get off pain pills, if their taking something that they could also get addicted to?

My father was put on methodone in an effort to "wean" him off of oxycontin. He got off the oxcyontin but became horribly addicted to the methodone. The next step was to wean him off of the methodone. The substitute they gave him for pain relief did not work, withdrawl from the methodone made him severly depressed. He committed suicide. Please don't let her take methodone.

I have read that many addicts are prescribed Methadone to stop a addiction to opiates such as Oxycontin or Hydrocodone. In turn I have read that Methadone is highly addictive. From my understanding Methadone blocks any euphoric feelings that the opiates can create. So what is a addict feeling from Methadone that gets them addicted to the drug? Could someone try to explain this to me in lay mans terms?
