Getting methadone with no health insurance?

Does anybody no of anywhere to get on methadone in Los Angeles without having health insurance and no money. Or no how to get some kind of free health insurance, Med-Cal told me you have to be disabled or over 65

I am a Methadone Advocate and unfortunately most methadone clinics require cash only. They rarely accept insurance and never have I heard of a sliding scale type of fee. Medical cards are only for those who are disabled, over 65 or have children and meet a pay requirement. I had Medicaid until my son turned 18 when it was dropped and then I was diagnosed with cancer and had no insurance. I am still waiting for my disability and my Dad pays $95/week for my MMT.

Can you become a mental health counselor w/ a Masters in Social Work if you are on a methadone program?

MSW social workers do mental health counseling - but you will still be a social worker. As for being on methadone - this should not impact your ability to get a job (and more importantly get licensed).

what doctor can prescribe the pill called Methadone, and that take a saginaw health plan coverage?

Both poster are wrong.A doctor does need a special license to prescribe Methadone for addiction but any doctor can prescribe it for pain if they are approved for prescribing narcotics. http://www.medicalassistedtreatment.com/ 35901/index.html?*session*id*key*=*sessi on*id*val*
If it is for addiction then you can use the Medical Assisted treatment Locator at http://dasis3.samhsa.gov/ You will want to use the "Advanced" option and check "methadone Maintenance" and the insurance option to find one that takes your sort of insurance but if it is for pain then you will need to look under "Pain Management" in the phone book or call your provider.
Also, I am not sure why the previous poster doubts you would need pain management unless she assumes because she is a pain management patient she is somehow superior...LOL but she is not very knowledgeable about Methadone because although it does have a long half life it has been researched and proven to not be harder to withdrawal from than Heroin (BTW spelled H-E-R-O-I-N) it just lasts longer which seems worse. Also patients on long term MMT are dependent not addicted (there is a difference) to Methadone.

im currently in a methadone rehab,is there others in this & does it affect YOUR weight and health too?

is methadone known to cause any health probs , is it a safe med to take for pain?

Methadone can be very addictive. It is a synthetic opiate mainly used to treat heroin addiction and other opiate addiction. It can be used for pain since it is an opiate but BE CAREFUL. It is very easy to overdose on because the main way that it is taken is in liquid form and it may not look like allot to take but it can kill you very quickly. If you do decide to take it, you should take between 20-30 mg. I recommend 20 mg because 30 mg may be to much for you if you are not a daily user of opiates. You should educate yourself more about opiates before you decide to use them.

  • Q&A: Too Soon to Repeat Diphenhydramine Usage? Major Health Risk?

If you’re not familiar with the risks, you shouldn’t assume that you’re on top of the adverse side effects. Unjustified confidence is as risky as it gets.

Anyway, you shouldn’t do it because you definitely have a tolerance and any damage, particularly heart damage, can be aggravated. Everyone is different, but at least one week of down time is a good rule of thumb for DPH.
