Is it o.k to ask my pharmacist who dispenses my methadone to go on a date with me, so i can rob her keys?

I would lose respect for you if you didn't. You should see what I do for my pharmacist. It's freaking illegal in some states.

Is it possible to build up a tolerance to methadone?

6 years ago I made the biggest mistake of my life and got on methadone. About 2 years ago I started feeling sick in the morning, mind you I was on 110 mgs at the time, Im now on 85 ,anyway soon the uncomfort and sick feelings started to wake me up in the middle of the night, I now take Tylonol pms to help me get through the night. I now start feeling bad 12 hours after I take the methadone. I've been staying at the same dose now for the last 8 months. Now my question is, Can you build a tolerance to methadone or could there be something else thats causing this. I haven't used any drugs in 4 years so I'm pretty scared that Im going to end up relapsing and I can't do that now, I'm finally starting to get my life back in order and on track and this is starting to consume me. I spoke to another woman who was on 120 mgs and she claims to feel the same way but shes also a pill popper I suspect so its not really the same. A nurse that dispenses the methadone told me a story about a pregnant woman who was on a high dose and her baby was fine with no withdrawal at all but yet a woman on a low dose had her baby in the hospital for months withdrawing. It makes me wonder if the high doses are even effective...maybe it stops working the higher it goes? It may cancel itself out somehow. Im 128 lbs and 5'3 also, when I first went up in the dose it overwhelmed me, I vomited every morning after it would kick in, and at the time I was going to school and while I would be studying Id just nod out no matter how hard I tried to keep my eyes open, this was 4 years ago, now it feels like its not doing anything at all. Why would this be happening? Also will a detox take me on 85 mgs, because I think thats what I'm going to have to do. Thanks for letting me ramble on, hopefully someone can help.

Hi sweetheart...unfortunately you are not alone....many of the young people are hooked on methadone and I would suspect plenty of older folks as well...its everywhere...I think you have built up a tolerance for it and in order to get the same results or high you will have to increase your dosage....that's where you get into trouble...I know this girl...she takes 125 loritabs a week! she HAS too she says.. mixed with the methadone that she buys from her own mama..and she is also hooked on meth.....needless to say the girl is a twirling fighting mess....and now she says she is pregnant...dear God..poor baby......our young people ingest so much stuff it is no wonder that they are dropping like flys...same deal as Heath Ledger....too much partying and pill popping combinations...its an epidemic in this country!....I don't know what to tell you to do ....other than seek help at all cost! and don't increase your dosage!...you want to get off of that stuff...so what if you don't get high anymore....you must be strong for you! your future..your life...we are loosing too many of our brilliant youth to drugs...drug cocktails of everything imaginable..it blows my mind....you are not alone in this battle...our youth are in a terrible crisis!...don't follow the masses...take the high road..not literally..LOL! go to support groups and stay focused on your future and what you want out of this life...only you can do it...please find yourself a caring Dr who will help you and also READ about addiction....we are ALL addicted to something..thats the way we are wired....knowledge IS power.....I am sending blessings, prayers and love your way.....take care and be strong! you can do this...

Do ALL pharmacys stock methadone? Do Boots NOT stock it?

Wondering because I have seen many heroin addict types hanging around my street near my local pharmacy and been begged for money a lot but its odd to me as there are big boots stores just 5 minutes away. I was in the shop the other day and say someone being prescribed it...never seen it before. Now its made me worry that because they stock the stuff, it attracts bad people to my street and I don't feel safe.

Do big chain stores refuse to stock it? Can small stores refuse to stock it or can I petition to stop them dispensing it on my street?
Im not doing anything wrong by disliking scum hanging around my neighbourhood. Im sure its not an easy thing to do and I admire them for being willing to help themselves. Im still within my rights as a tax paying citezen to judge people on thier manner so dont judge me for judging them.

All pharmacies stock methadone. They will all be dispensing it because it's very widely prescribed. If you live in a poorer area where there are higher numbers of addicts then your own local pharmacy could be handling 30 users a day.

There is nothing you can do, except move house! Why should pharmacies stop dispensing methadone just cos you don't like the addicts in the street? These are the people who are actually trying to get off drugs and get a life.

With your attitude I'd be unwilling to help - however, if you were nice and went to see the pharmacist in private you could explain that there's begging going on outside the shop. They could ask the addicts to come a little later and not be there before opening time.

I used to work for Boots and our users came after opening but before the dispensary got busy - about 9.30 am. That would solve your problem.

Methadone users may not even be the people begging in the street! Many of them look quite respectable and can be very nice people. In my time in community pharmacy I only ever met one unpleasant drug user - the others were lovely customers who we were happy to have in the store.

Why do some people think it is inappropiate to give advise on medication....?

because they are not doctors. But yet a addict can be advised by a Methadone counselor and even have them dispense their methadone for them and a lot of those counselors never took a drug in their lifes or even read one single book on medicine?
As opposed to some wholesome American guy trying to help people and have used opiates legally and read about them for years.

Very true actually. A lot of people put a great deal of faith in their doctors, expecting that the doctor knows everything about drugs/medication, since it takes years and years of hard work to earn that MBBS and then MD. They would feel that only a doctor would have seen and is aware of all the possible adverse reactions to a med and all the adverse drug-drug interactions that can take place with different meds.

In contrast, I never understood how someone who has probably attended a weekend course in drug treatment would be given that level of responsibility in dispensing Methadone, especially given that:
1) Methadone is a very strong opioid. As it is today, a lot of doctors are very wary about prescribing even Vicodin and here we have an opioid that is stronger than Morphine AND possesses NMDA-Antagonist effects.
2) Methadone is an NMDA-Antagonist. Whilst this has significant implications on the level of pain relief, as well as tolerance and addiction, this also means that Methadone would not have a linear dose-response curve. One would have to be extremely careful when prescribing it. So to allow someone who has very little experience in this to attend a short course and then start advising patients on Methadone dosage would be ridiculous and irresponsible in the extreme.

I wouldn't agree to a "counsellor" dispensing even Suboxone or ANY drug even, let alone Methadone.

An addict or a former addict on the other hand is different. Over here (in Asia), if you talk to people invovled in the De-Addiction field, you will find that most of them treat drug-users and addicts as "cultural experts". They acknowledge that this group of people have a much greater knowledge of illegal drugs and side-effects and pitfalls (of course this doesn't apply to every drug-addict and there are still addicts who do insane things like injecting Darvocet but I think you get my point).
A lot needs to change in the way treatment is provided to drug-users and a lot more effort needs to be channel toward Education.

If a legal office had the paralegals deliberately obstruct his business by preventing clients what remedies?

A power of Attorney was expected to be revoked for abuse over a week ago, the client is still being abused by the attorney with no accountablity nor wishes being respected of the caree in hospital.

The abusive attorney got wind the power was to be revoked and has had a place made available at a nursing home and is removing the client against their will with dimentia as the full time carer is powerless to stop it mainly prejudice on gender bias.

The staff lied to client, the hospital nursing unit mgr had the client removed in his absense and the no govt dept is willing to step in and do their job, The GP treating has a conflict of interest and the abusive client has been warned twice to do the will of the client and not obstuct, nothing gets done by anyone despite the client desiring to be nearer friends and family over 100 miles away, the nursing home has a bad reputation and bad record of client care, the GP dispenses methadone and has abused the attorney by no psychiatrist 20yr
The attorney has issues with mortgage stress and has probably frauded the power of attorney whilst the lawyer did not hold accountable for losses, NSW Australian durisdiciton. NSW Sheriff, Police, Public Trustee, Office Protective Comm and Hospital contacted by no avail yet, it seems a 2 year wait to inheritance and taxes are an issue with the full time carer on carers benefit unable to afford bad legal aid, but a benevolant lawyer beyond the two family lawyers is needed the patient had a request 1 month ago to have power attorney revoked for abuse, once before power of attorney revoked and again riding rough shod over clients needs as women do the women thing to exclude men? Bazaar the power of attorney attorney is stressed financially on home mortgage after 30 years probable criminal activity over the power of attorney and money as motive for murderously bad care taken with no risk assessment, despite requests being moved today? Sad, murder of aged for money how obscene.
just a question, you wasted your answer, why maria?

In your hour of need do you not turn to Mary the virgin mother watching her son die on the cross?

dear brother... there is always the power of prayer [10:10] but i am not sure that you are in a place to hear that... i hope the intent of my message is clear... empathy and condolences...

i have had some experience with the legal profession and it has not always been pleasant... but i continue to trust in the LORD. my wife is a defense attorney and i love her dearly... i have been a prisoner... and it is only my faith in God that pulled me through.

the only reason i post this... is in love.
i have no answers besides that.

best wishes and warm regards...
respectfully... i pray for this case to be resolved gracefully.
amen

Salvation Army in process to acquire the old Surrey Public Market ...

Brian Venables, Major and Divisional Secretary for Public Relations & Development with the Salvation Army, confirmed to me in an email yesterday afternoon, that  they are ” currently engaged in a transaction that, if successful, will mean the subject property will become ours.”

I also asked Brian what the plans were for that property, and this was his response:

There is much to be said however we can only speculate at best until we are the owners of the property”

Disheartening news at best to the majority of residents in the Newton area who are already fighting the continuing downward spiral of degradation in the area, which has been likened to the next DTES ( downtown east side in Vancouver). A direct co-relation between the concentration of social service agencies,( including shelters and methadone dispensing pharmacies), and the degradation is shockingly apparent to those who live here. I hope to bring you a guest blog on that topic in the near future
