and I have only 20 mgs. left hopefully to save for tommorow, cause from past experience my worst two days of withdrawal are usually the first 2.
ONE WORD: SUBOXONE/SUBUTEX
Methadone is not a good solution these days, it creates it's own problems. Try Suboxone or Subutex. You must get it prescribed by a Psychiatrist. Also the co. that makes it gives doctors applications for two-three patients to be on it for free (it's $285/ mo., cash price) You have to ask for it though. I know people with a much worse habit than you and they are functioning great with Suboxone maintanence. It essentially stops the kick!!! It gets rid of opiates in the body (Subutex) and then Suboxone does not allow you to feel high even if you did opiates again!

SUBOXONE is the first opioid medication approved under DATA 2000 for the treatment of opioid dependence in an office-based setting. SUBOXONE also can be dispensed for take-home use, just as any other medicine for other medical conditions.
The primary active ingredient in SUBOXONE is buprenorphine.
Because buprenorphine is a partial opioid agonist, its opioid effects are limited compared with those produced by full opioid agonists, such as oxycodone or heroin. SUBOXONE also contains naloxone, an opioid antagonist.
The naloxone in SUBOXONE is there to discourage people from dissolving the tablet and injecting it. When SUBOXONE is placed under the tongue, as directed, very little naloxone reaches the bloodstream, so what the patient feels are the effects of the buprenorphine. However, if naloxone is injected, it can cause a person dependent on a full opioid agonist to quickly go into withdrawal.
SUBOXONE at the appropriate dose may be used to:
Reduce illicit opioid use
Help patients stay in treatment
by
Suppressing symptoms of opioid withdrawal
Decreasing cravings for opioids
I'M THINKING NO...YOU NEED 5-6 DAYS TO BE CLEAN OF METHADONE, BUT IF YOU WANT THE SAFEST ANSWER, ASK THE PHARMACIST HE KNOW MORE ABOUT SUBOXONE THEN THE DR. DOES. AND GOOD LUCK ON THIS TRANSITION.PRISILLA

You've been on Methadone for 5 years? What milligram where you on when you started to come off of it? Are you trying to detox yourself @ home? Are you taking the liquid or the pills? Sorry so many questions, but if you answer these,it would be alot more helpful. I detoxed myself off of Methadone, and it is hell. I will go ahead and tell you how I did it, then if you answer my questions I may be able to help out a little more. How I started was (I took liquid the majority of the time, sometimes pills), (the liquid is easier to come off of because you can gradually bring yourself down). If you can get liquid, go to the pharmacy and ask for an oral syringe so you can measure in milligrams. The first week go down 2 milligrams, continue that for a week, and go down 2 more milligrams, repeat that until you are eventually off the methadone. It is a long process but it is the best way to do so the withdrawal isn't as bad. It can take 6-12 months to fully recover from methadone withdrawal. It took me about 6months to feel "good"! Also when your coming down Vicodin, or Percocets will help with the sickness, but try not to take to many, it will defeat the purpose of getting off the Methadone, just take them when you a really uncomfortable and can't take the pain. Zanax, Valium, or Somas will help if you take them at night so you can sleep. Hope this helps a little bit, and God Bless you, it's going to be a long hard road, but in the end you will feel amazing.
this can be found in your system up to six weeks. It depends on how fast your liver can process out the medicine. It also can leave your system within three weeks. It just depends on how well your body is functioning.

“…Alcohol is more dangerous than illegal drugs like heroin, ecstasy and crack cocaine, a new study said today.
The work was led by Professor David Nutt, the former government drugs adviser who was sacked for criticising the then Labour government’s decision to upgrade cannabis from class C to class B.
His team analysed how addictive a drug is and how it harms the human body -
- as well as other factors like environmental and socio-economic costs, such as health care, social services, and prison.
They found heroin, crack cocaine and methamphetamine, or crystal meth - to be the most lethal to individuals.
When considering their wider social effects, alcohol, heroin and crack cocaine were the most dangerous.
But overall, alcohol outranked all other substances, followed by heroin and crack cocaine.
Marijuana, ecstasy and LSD scored far lower.
Marking substances from zero to 100 based on their criteria, alcohol scored 72 overall, compared to 55 for heroin and 54 for crack.
