well i'm curently on a 21 day detox program and i've realized that i will never ever relapse. i realized alot of things that were wrong with drug use and using methadone makes me feel dirty. if i drop off now at 16mg per day how long do you think i'll be sick if i do a body cleanse at the same time??
i'm comming off of a 30 day heroin benge and the methodone is making me sick i've been throwing up every day. i feel as if methodone making me just as sick longer. i've kicked heroin cold turkey before and i was sick but it was way to shitty. how long do you think i'll be sick for and no matter how sick i get i will never relapse cause it hurts my womens hurt and her feelings, she feels cheated on,betrayed, and lied to when i do it. so i'll die before i put her through that again i'm just wondering how long ill be sick for
You will still be just as sick. You can take a nerve pill such as klonopin to help with the shakes. But you gotta get yourself off of this. I am coming down of a lousy hydrocodone, and its not to bad, just no energy and antsy. You will do fine. The sickness is the easiest to get over. Its just the beginning of a long road, and the hardest part is to not go back to it again.

my friend is not doing well, he is trying his best to kick methadone, is there any home remedys for his illness?
nothing at home! if there is headaches, or any aches, motrin for that, and as severe as it can get, this friend of yours should seek med.attn. especially if the heart-rate goes way up or way down!!

I need help detoxing from heroin. Was on methadone for 6 months, hated driving 60 miles a day to get dosed, besides started to feel just like coping from the street dealer. Started using again when the methadone withdrawls got bad. Does anyone know how to use methadone to detox off heroin, I'm not taking about methadone maintence (screw that, been there) just using say a certain dose daily (small dose) then decrease over a few days? I would appreciate any serious answers, thanx (I've been off methadone for about 6 weeks, so I shouldn't have to worry about withdrawls from that?!?)
methadone is stronger and more addictive than heroin, and harder to kick. it took me 2 1/2 years to sloooooowly wean myself off methadone, and at the end i still got withdrawal, even on 2 mls! you're better off detoxing from the h, in my opinion. yes i know it totally sucks. get some meds from a doctor to help you through, and just do it. 3 days of absolute misery, a week until you can get a decent sleep, and two weeks to start feeling "normal". take a week off work if possible, rent lots of movies and buy lots of comfort food, so you don't have to leave the house. and be strong! as the person above me said, the hardest part isn't getting off, it's staying off.

My cousin is about to start law school soon and he is worried that if they find out he is on Methadone he will be kicked out. Is that true or is he just really paranoid. I told him he is paranoid but I don't know if I am right or not. I am just trying to be supportive.

Yes, he can be expelled if this in violation of the school's code of conduct. In addition, there is a greater expectation that students pursuing admission to the bar will respect and obey laws, including drug laws.
how long on average does it take one pill of methadone to kick in? im taking the white bars. thank you!
about 20-30 minutes. Whether it works or not depends on the amount of dope your body was used to having versus the amount of methadone you're taking.

Hello all, I joined this forum because I read a lot of smart things on some of the threads. I'm in a different country now(away from U.S.) and I am apprehensive about going to meetings here because frankly, I don't want to meet any people to use with. I know that doesn't always happen with people we meet at meetings, but it has to me before. I don't know anyone who uses here and I plan on never meeting them. So I'm down to 5mg of Methadone and I plan on taking 5mg tomorrow and then 2.5mg (a quarter of a pill) for the next three days after that. Then I'm out and hopefully off all opiates and narcotics for the rest of my life. If we could only remember the true horror and pain of withdrawal, we would never pick up again. It's indeed not worth it... not for a thousand nods. Methadone is such an evil kick. I was on 40mg a day, a week ago for 5years, so I am really feeling the reduction even though I'm still on a small dose. Anyhow, I appreciate this forum and I thank you guys for being here....
