I am looking for a physician who will prescribe Methadone. I am addicted to Morphine due to the careless prescribing of it for pain management. I have now lost medical insurance. I have a low income due to my lay off. I need a doctor who will prescribe Methadone in the Royal Oak area. If any one knows of one I will appreciate it. I could also use a low cost clinic.

how much is methadone daily in NSW and Victoria thanks
~thy blood~
I was talking to three heroin addicts who told me that sometimes heroin is hard to get hold of on the Street and if it wasn't,t for free method one they would have to give drugs up.
I do know if we stop methadone without say three months notice we would have a small crime wave but think this would be worth it.I can only wonder if MP,s hold positions in or shares in the supplying company.
geoff obviously dosen,t realise methodone is used to top up heoin .long gone are the days it was a measured substitute.
What a good question. I'm sure the figure will be astronomical as there are always queues out side the local chemists every day and this must happen all over the country as well as in all the prisons.
Write to your M.P. who is obliged to find the answer either through known information or by asking questions in parliament.
oh and buy the way the cost for this is more than the cost of the program to keep them off drugs????? yes thats true ....ohhh and methodone is a DRUG a strong drug that you can overdose on ,there is only one off herion.....cold turkey....apart from that its not medicated ....an guess whos paying for it ......yup ....you and me ?

It won't be available to everyone. It will be done by finger print recognition and the inmates will only get what has been prescribed for them. It's not going to be a free for all. Methadone is a very cheap medicine to produce, it's certainly cheaper than forcing someone into cold turkey. Generally they need sleeping pills and anti depressants, counselling etc. It's easier and cheaper to just give them the methadone. Obviously this doesn't solve the problem of addiction. Often it's crimes committed to get drug money that have put them in jail in the first place. So, it's just perpetuating the cycle. I think there should be more support to get prisoners off drugs. The methadone program is a cheap option that clearly doesn't work.

Description of Methadone Patients « Janaburson's Blog
I was surprised how casually people shared controlled substances with one another. As a physician, it seems like a big deal to me if somebody takes a schedule II or schedule III controlled substance that wasn’t prescribed for them, but the addicts I interviewed swapped these pills with little apprehension or trepidation. Taking pain pills to get through the day’s work seemed to have become part of the culture in some areas. Sharing these pills with friends and family members who had pain was acceptable to people in these communities.
In the past, most of the public service announcements and other efforts to prevent and reduce drug use focused on street drugs. Many people seemed to think this meant marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine, and heroin. The patients I saw didn’t consider prescription pills bought on the street as street drugs. They saw this as a completely different thing, and occasionally spoke derisively about addicts using “hard drugs.” Most addicts didn’t understand the power of the drugs they were taking.
