I know methadone is commonly used, but I've heard that it can be addictive as well. I suppose it could be true, as heroin was first believed to be a medication for morphine addiction. So, are there other treatments for heroin addiction?
Yes, there is. There's naloxone, which is an opiate receptor blocker that adheres to neurons so the opiates wouldn't work. There's naltrexone, which is an opiate receptor blocker used to treat addiction to heroin. There's also buprenorphine, which, as of now, seems the most appealing medication of them all, as it requires less dosage, and has the least withdrawal symptoms, if any.

Wouldn't people get addicted to methadone too? I know people started out believing that heroin is some kind of treatment for morphine addiction. What if methadone is the same way? I'm just really curious.
Methadone has already been proven to be safe and effective which is why it is used for addiction treatment. For so long as methadone is properly prescribed, it won't be sedating nor intoxicating. Its effects will not get in the way of normal activities. Its taken orally and prevents withdrawal symptoms for as long as 24 to 36 hours. Aside from that, when methadone is taken, it relieves the individual's heroin craving, the biggest cause for relapse. It is also medically safe, so even if people use it for ten years straight, it's okay. With the help of counseling and therapy, methadone will be able to bring people back their productivity and sober lives.

I don't have any insurance that i can claim, have to pay for myself, what is the painless way to detox heroin? And how much is it?
I don't know how much it is. But here in the UK the most commonly used method is Methadone which you take every day and then gradually the amount is reduced. The taxpayer pays for it so at the moment it is receiving a lot of publicity, but perhaps you could find out if there was a programme in the states that offered methadone detox.
Please don't lecture me, I'm determined to stay clean. I just want a straight answer. I am 16 and have 39 weeks left in a 48 week course of interferon treatment for hepatitis C. Would it be pointless for someone to keep taking the interferon if they were getting high? How does it effect the treatment?
You should continue to take the Interferon regardless of whether you are on the 'heroin'.

We're low on cash at the moment, so I'm wary about coming to doctors, because I know they charge consultation fees. Is there anyone out there that can answer my queries for free? We live in Miami, btw.
I was about to suggest going to a doctor, but as you mentioned that you wanted a free consultation, I might just have the perfect alternative for you. You might want to consider calling a toll free hotline. Just dial 1-800-559-9503. There will be people on the other line who are adept at offering you the information that you need.

Heroin or diacetylmorphine is a strong analgesic (commonly known as pain killer medicine, as they are used in treatment of pain) medication. In the United Kingdom and other countries (such as Netherlands) where heroin is available legally with proper prescription by appropriate physician, the drug is administered by intramuscular, subcutaneous, intravenous or intrathecal (directly into cerebrospinal fluid or CSF in the spinal cord) route.
The medical use of heroin is in acute pain conditions such as due to severe physical trauma/injury, post surgical pain, myocardial infarction (commonly known as heart attack) and chronic painful conditions such as cancer pains of end stage cancer (which are very severe and can not be managed by conventional pain medications), pain of some terminal illnesses. Heroin is used in severe painful conditions, which can not be treated (pain reduction) with conventional pain killers such as NSAIDs (non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs) or other pain medications. In countries where heroin is not available legally, morphine is used in those conditions mentioned above.
